ANNUAL TRACTOR RAFFLE
2025 WAPR Raffle Grand Prize Tractor – 1952 John Deere A
Charlie Kraft attended the January 2025 WAPR Membership Meeting and offered to donate a John Deere A that his father, Ervin Kraft, purchased in August 1989. The tractor is being donated through the Ervin & Kathleen Kraft Family Trust in memory of their grandson, Jeff Schmeckel, who passed away in 2022.
Jeffrey L. Schmeckel
August 31, 1984 – May 16, 2022
Jeff graduated from Union Grove High School in 2003. Jeff was a farmer from childhood on. He raised beef, corn, and soybeans. He loved exhibiting cattle and hogs at the Racine County Fair. He was involved with the Farm Bureau and enjoyed attending farm auctions. Jeff enjoyed antique tractors, farm toys, dogs, playing cards, and watching the Packers and Brewers.
Ervin W. Kraft
April 21, 1931 – March 10, 2021
Ervin served in the Army from February 1952 until January 1954 as a mechanic in Germany, Austria, and Korea. Upon returning home from military service, Ervin returned to work at J.I. Case and farming in Kenosha County until 1962, when Ervin and Kathleen bought a farm in the Town of Byron in Fond du Lac County. He was an avid collector of antique tractors and spent many hours restoring his antique equipment, as well as his 1947 Studebaker truck.
